WHAT IS IT?
Pilates House has partnered with
THE LAB, a collaborative teacher training developed by Holly Swanson and Jacquelyn Brennan using their combined 25 years of teaching and industry experience. This PMA-approved program is designed to bring you both Classical and Contemporary exercises using traditional Pilates equipment: Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, High/Ladder Barrel, and Magic Circle. This training will be exploring the mat and reformer portion of this program only.


WHY BECOME CERTIFIED?
Becoming a certified Pilates instructor opens a new world of opportunities for you. You can make a life long career of teaching, or just teach part-time as a side hustle. Even if you’re not planning on teaching, going through our program will allow you to dive deeper into your practice and discover what your body is capable of.


WHAT MAKES THE LAB DIFFERENT?
Not only will you learn how to teach Pilates in our program, but you will learn how to become a GREAT instructor. Teaching is an art form. You’ll learn industry tips and tricks to challenge your clients, how to cue effectively, choreograph classes, and modify for injuries so that every person in your class feels successful. In addition to this you’ll learn what you need to do to become a SUCCESSFUL instructor.

Flow and float your way into your week. Start your practice with a 60 minute invigorating power Vinyasa sequence, linking breath to movement in a musically driven Hot Flow led by Allison. Finish your practice by floating from your savasana into a sound bath through body scanning, meditation, breath work, and vocal alchemy with ambient relaxing sound vibrations to refresh your mind, body, and soul, guided by Tong.

This cellular-level healing experience uses the Planetary Mars Gong, Crystal singing bowl, flow chime, and other instruments. Sound healing is designed to foster an increased sense of well-being and expanded mind & body connection, deepening relaxation and cultivating awareness for inner opening & expansion. The Planetary Mars Gong adds an extra rejuvenation for our 30-minute session. This specific gong is calibrated to the frequency of the cosmic octave, which corresponds to our celestial body. Join Marissa Walch, business owner, 500hr RYT, Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor as she shares her personal and professional experience with other teachers in this interactive, hands on assisting workshop. This workshop is meant to help build confidence as a teacher while giving hands on assists. Hands on assisting can be intimidating and difficult to navigate. In this workshop, we will start with a physical practice warming up your body in preparation for assists. We will then work with partners and small groups to practice assisting, giving feedback, and discussing the importance of touch in a yoga practice. This workshop is open to everyone, but it’s highly recommended for those enrolled in yoga training or certified instructors.

SUBTLE

Access your innate wisdom through the energetic realm of yoga with Dani Reidy and move from pattern to presence int his embodiment workshop. Inspired by the Koshic model, which provides us with a map to our rich interior, you will remember and refine your connection to wholeness. Discover what needs to be unveiled in order to access a version of yourself that is both desired and innate. What is a specific belief or pattern that is asking for your attention? We will tend and befriend the inner states that manifest as many brands of compensating in the external.

The body is an extraordinary system of information. What we are holding internally, expresses itself as tension in the body. What begins as a thought, overtime with repetition gets encoded into the system and densifies from the electrical, to the chemical and eventually the facial level.

In this workshop you will begin to identify the stories that are held in your form, and decode the message of your inner realm that is speaking to you through your embodiment. This workshop will incorporate a physical asana practice and lecture on using yoga as a guide to go deeper. Intended for students and teachers, deepen your practice of going inwards.

Not sure what Somatics really means? Interested in learning more about energy and how it is so tangible in the body?

When a traumatic event happens it leaves you with an emotional residue in the body. Check in with yourself, do you have cravings, do you feel anxious, weird muscle spasms in the body. Even if you don’t remember the exact moment of something, the body keeps the score. 

Please be prepared to experience: 

Intense breathwork- a huge portion of the workshop, we will be putting the body in a fight/flight mode and slowly pulling out of it to be in the rest and digest. Breathwork is the foundation of this workshop. You will be learning how effective it can be to use as a daily practice to help release any stressors. 

Intuitive movement- includes dancing, so please wear comfortable clothes! Swaying motions, gentle movements and some jumping to help release excess energy. 

Process present pain and emotional baggage-holistic approach to expunging emotions and experiences through the body that may be stuck as tension. 

Strengthen resilience for the future-understanding how to incorporate somatic healing as a daily practice for stress relief 

Walk through this hour with an open mind and heart to help unleash stuck energy within the body. Be ready to let go and surrender what does not serve you and take back control over the narrative of your life.

This workshop includes:

  • A brief opening flow and drills to activate and prepare the body for inversions

  • Three inversions: Headstand, Forearm stand, Handstand

  • Variations of these inversions for all-levels of practitioners to grow their practice

  • Use of the wall and partner work, with some individual practice

  • Tips and tricks for accessing and holding inverted poses

  • Understanding of physical alignment, muscular engagement, and the role of the breath in each inversion pose

  • Building communication and trust with yourself

Inversions are some of the most beneficial, yet feared, postures that bring equilibrium to many systems of your body. Physically, inversions strengthen our shoulders, arms, and core, and trains our whole body to work as a unit. Mentally, going upside down teaches us the art of shifting our viewpoint as we propel us past our fears into a whole new realm of possibility.

After this workshop, you will have gained the knowledge, confidence, and experience to safely and effectively practice a variety of inversions on your own and in yoga classes.

Sink into an evening of pure bliss. In this deeply therapeutic workshop, Lindsay will guide you through a 90 minute revitalizing and healing yoga practice. 

Start with pranayama (breathing) then move into a slow-flowing series of standing poses designed to revive the body and mind. The second half of the class includes restoring floor-based poses that are held longer to unlock your body including your feet, legs, hips, back, shoulders, neck and wrists.  These postures will keep your body healthy and your mind stress-free.

This style of yoga will target the connective tissues such as ligaments, bones, and joints of the body that are not often exercised in a more active style of yoga practice. Feel the healing benefits of yoga by liberating your body's chronic holding patterns and pain.

Accessible for all levels, this class includes pranayama, meditation, and a rejuvenating yoga flow. The room will be warmed to a comfortable 78-80 degrees to allow for optimal release of the body.
